I filmed all of the rehearsal, behind the scenes, dress rehearsals and performance and the Music Hall theater in Detroit. There was a full band on stage throughout the show, a duet with jazz saxophonist James Carter and vocalist Freda Payne (1:32:30). Marcus Belgrave was in the band along with many great musicians who have performed at the Detroit Jazz Festivals over the years. Professional dancers, singers and tap dancers performed flawlessly. The music is arranged by none other than Jazz Guitarist, Vaughn Klugh.
The show ran one weekend at the Music Hall and was never heard from again. Here is a full taping I recorded from one camera at Berts across from the Farmers Market in Detroit where rehearsals were done and full dress rehearsals were performed.
My oral histories and artist documentary footage are quite detailed and some are interviewed by other artists or supporters of the arts.
I am actively working to complete the archives of the footage, photographs and audio recordings of each individual to be submitted to the U.S. Library of Congress.
